Booost vs Global Tasks
Booost provides a task list and a calendar so that students can create tasks and events. Tasks can be viewed by due date, priority or date added. External calendars can be connected so students can clearly see their full schedule in one place. Booost allows students to schedule time to study and suggests tasks to work on based on their due date and priority. It then gives extra help with each task through the checklists and guides, plus options for students to get help if things get tough.
Global Tasks is a task management solution that reduces stress and helps students to stay on top of their work. It enables students to create tasks and organise these into projects, and to add sub-tasks and deadlines. Global Tasks then gives an overview of everything that needs to be done, allows students to focus in on a specific project or task and enables tasks to be hidden until specific dates. Students can therefore have full control over how much they see, helping them to focus on what’s important but also to see the big picture.
Overall, Global Tasks is a good option for students who find making lists helpful, with extra features to control the level of detail on view at any time. Booost offers more proactive support with prioritising work and additional levels of help when needed.
Booost vs Brain in Hand
Booost enables students to add events to their calendar and attaches checklists with the suggested main steps needed to complete an event. These checklists can be customised to include specific solutions to difficulties. Students can reflect on their day and add notes to track their mood or add achievements. Booost enables students to contact (via text) friends and family or the Shout 85258 mental health support service whenever they need help.
Brain in Hand is a digital self-management support system for people who need help remembering things, making decisions, planning, or managing anxiety. It enables students to add events to a diary, with activities making up the individual steps within an event. Potential problems and associated solutions can then be attached to an event so that students can quickly access these when needed. Students can track their mood and anxiety levels using a traffic light system, and if they press 1 red traffic light, or 3 amber traffic lights in a row in one day, a traffic light responder will contact them.
Overall, Brain in Hand offers a framework for recording problems and associated solutions which can then be linked to events. Booost enables events to be added and imported, with additional layered support linked to each event provided by the task and event checklists and expert study and wellbeing guides. Both applications provide students with external support options.
