Want to learn more about what makes the people at Booost Education tick? From perfect weekends to favourite trips, we’ve been chatting with everyone to give you the inside scoop on the people working behind the scenes.
Today, we’re speaking with Flyn Brigden, and learning all about how they wound up as Application Engineer here at Booost Education.
What drew you to Booost Education?
I’m dyslexic, have dyscalculia, and audio processing difficulties. I always struggled in school and didn’t receive the help or strategies I needed to succeed. Focusing and managing my time were big problems for me. The idea of building tools to help others with these challenges felt incredibly rewarding because I could give others something I didn’t have as a student.
I once attended the Electromagnetic Field Festival when I was 13 or 14 because my parents were working there. I watched a talk on coding and, even though I didn’t understand much of it, I thought it was fascinating. The idea of having a blank canvas to build anything you want, inspired me to go home that evening and start learning how to code.
Where are you located?
Currently, I’m in the UK briefly. I’ve just returned from Canada, hiking in all the national parks, and I spend a lot of my time working abroad in various (usually sunny) locations around the world. For example, Bali, Thailand and the Philippines.
What does your perfect weekend look like?
A perfect weekend for me, assuming I’m in a sunny location, would include white water rafting and canyoning, followed by watching the sunset on the beach.
Best trip you’ve been on and why?
India was the best trip I’ve ever been on. It’s incredibly gorgeous, the food is delicious, and the people are lovely. It offers endless exploration, so you never get bored. Everywhere you go is completely different, and it has all types of natural environments: beaches, mountains, forests, sun, snow—you name it!
